ABOUT

Jessica Lee

Jessica Lee

My name is Jessica Lee, and I am a high school student with a deep passion for language, identity, and cultural connection. I have been actively advocating for Korean language education as a way to address a larger issue in Hawaiʻi: the limited access students have to learn their heritage languages in formal school settings. Despite Hawaiʻi’s rich multicultural landscape, many students, especially those from immigrant or multiethnic backgrounds, do not have the opportunity to study the language of their ancestors. This initiative was created to change that. For me, it began with Korean. I wanted to make sure students like me could reconnect with their roots, preserve cultural knowledge, and take pride in their identity.
